Within the framework of raising citizen awareness and developing the crisis and disaster response system in the Kurdistan Region

In the presence of Mrs. Sarwa Rasoul, Director General of the Crisis and Disaster Response Center in the Kurdistan Region, Bosa Menner, representative of the German Ministry of the Interior, Peter Pins, head of German volunteers and member of the INSARAG team, a THW representative in Germany, and a THW representative in the Kurdistan Region.

The cihan University in Sulaymaniyah was one of the participating academic institutions, with M.A. Nawroz Muhammad Abdul Rahman and laboratory assistant Abdullah Sabah Muhammad attending, completing the course successfully, and being awarded international certificates.

At the same time, the Community Response Week (CRT) campaign was launched in the governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, Halabja, and the Rapehrin Autonomous Administration, with the participation of about 150 people in the course aimed at training trainers in universities and academic centers, which was organized as part of a joint plan between the Joint Crisis Coordination Center and the Ministry of Higher Education.

The course is internationally accredited and certified by the Ministry of Interior / Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCC). It is a German international certificate that has been approved by INSARAG.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior and the Joint Crisis Coordination Center work with the German Federal Agency (THW) to raise community awareness of crisis and disaster response using the simplest available household supplies, as well as to enable people to help themselves and their families before government teams arrive on site.

Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,April 28, 2026, Third-year students from the General Education Department at Cihan University–Sulaimaniya translated six children’s books from English into Kurdish and Arabic. The books, originally brought from the UK, were printed and illustrated before being presented as gifts to Grade 2 and 3 pupils at Cihan Private School. Supervised by Ms. Tafan Kamal Karim, the initiative was both productive and heartwarming, bringing joy to the children while enhancing the students’ practical skills.

Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,The General Education Department at Cihan University-Sulaimaniya organized a training course for final-year students in April 29 and May 5, 2026, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatani. The course aims to prepare students for the post-graduation phase, equipping them with essential job market skills and introducing modern teaching methodologies and professional interaction strategies within the educational environment.

Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah , On April 29, 2026, the Career Development Center (CDC) at Cihan University – Sulaimaniya, in collaboration with Sulaimani Polytechnic University, organized a joint workshop on Artificial Intelligence.

In a joint scientific activity attended by a significant number of lecturers and students, Cihan University – Sulaimaniya, in cooperation with Sulaimani Polytechnic University, conducted a workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: A Revolutionary Opportunity or a Scientific Risk?” in the seminar hall. At the beginning of the workshop, Mr. Basoz Tawfiq Ahmad, as the panel moderator, highlighted the importance of the topic and the objective of bringing together experts from different fields to discuss the impact of this emerging technology on the future of higher education.

In the first panel session, Mr. Sherko Hamalaw Murad, a specialist in Informatics and Artificial Intelligence, emphasized the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and its application within the classroom. He explained how this technology can support scientific research and enhance academic standards. Subsequently, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faryad Khalid Mohammed, a specialist in Software Engineering, discussed the technical aspects of AI and the fundamental transformations it brings to learning systems. Finally, Mr. Ahmad Ramadan Rashid, a specialist in Machine Learning, provided an overview of the field and stressed the importance of awareness and its impact on technological development.
