On September 10, 2026, under the slogan “Zakat of Knowledge is Our Duty,” the Zakat Al-Ilm Organization, in coordination with Cihan Institute of Erbil, organized a seminar delivered by Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatan titled: “Building a Modern Pedagogical Relationship Between Teachers and Students.” The event was held in the hall of Cihan Institute for the institute’s faculty and students, in the presence of Dr. Ali Karim Al-Zamin, Administrative Director of the Zakat Al-Ilm Organization, and Mr. Hiwa Mohammed, Director of Cihan Institute. During the session, he discussed the role of teachers and effective ways of engaging with students, concluding the seminar with an open Q&A session for the attendees.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah , The General Education Department at Cihan University-Sulaimaniya organized a training course for final-year students in April 29 and May 5, 2026, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatani. The course aims to prepare students for the post-graduation phase, equipping them with essential job market skills and introducing modern teaching methodologies and professional interaction strategies within the educational environment.
Based on the recommendations of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, to prioritize the volunteer programs of the “Zakat Al-Ilm” (Zakāt of Knowledge) Foundation and to deliver voluntary and developmental services to all segments of society; the activities of the course titled “Psychological Awareness, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence” continue in coordination with the global Frida Organization at the Shariya Complex.
On July 29, 2026, three additional lectures were presented by:
1. Mr. Salar Faisal Nouri: On technology and artificial intelligence.
2. Ms. Sanaa Kareem Mustafa: On how to overcome life problems and paths to happiness.
3. Mr. Hizhar Ali: On the importance of personal development.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,On July 27, 2026, Cihan University – Sulaimaniya launched the fifth installment of its pedagogy training course, welcoming 102 teachers from the Ministry of Education. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities and the Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Offered free of charge by the university, the program will span several weeks. The curriculum is led by pedagogy experts and focuses on modern instructional techniques designed to help teachers effectively bring these new skills back to their classrooms.
As part of its academic mission, Cihan University – Sulaimaniya continues to prioritize strong partnerships with various community sectors, particularly within the field of education, to support professional development and regional growth.
On June 30, 2026, as part of the ongoing activities of the “Zakat Al-Ilm” (Knowledge Zakat) institution for community awareness and development, a seminar was conducted at Cihan University-Duhok. The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Bayar M.Rasheed Omer, under the title “Who is the Intellectual?”, in the presence of university faculty members and staff.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,May 1, 2026, The “Towards Excellence” (Baraw Balla Bun) event, organized by Rozh Institute and primarily sponsored by Cihan University-Sulaimaniya, was held with the attendance of over 2,000 students. During the event, Asst. Lect. Lehat Yousif, Director of Admissions and Registration at Cihan University-Sulaimaniya, provided detailed information about the university to the attendees. Following this, the admissions and registration staff distributed gifts and brochures to the students participating in the event.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,April 28, 2026, Third-year students from the General Education Department at Cihan University–Sulaimaniya translated six children’s books from English into Kurdish and Arabic. The books, originally brought from the UK, were printed and illustrated before being presented as gifts to Grade 2 and 3 pupils at Cihan Private School. Supervised by Ms. Tafan Kamal Karim, the initiative was both productive and heartwarming, bringing joy to the children while enhancing the students’ practical skills.

In a joint scientific activity attended by a significant number of lecturers and students, Cihan University – Sulaimaniya, in cooperation with Sulaimani Polytechnic University, conducted a workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: A Revolutionary Opportunity or a Scientific Risk?” in the seminar hall. At the beginning of the workshop, Mr. Basoz Tawfiq Ahmad, as the panel moderator, highlighted the importance of the topic and the objective of bringing together experts from different fields to discuss the impact of this emerging technology on the future of higher education.
In the first panel session, Mr. Sherko Hamalaw Murad, a specialist in Informatics and Artificial Intelligence, emphasized the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and its application within the classroom. He explained how this technology can support scientific research and enhance academic standards. Subsequently, Asst. Prof. Dr. Faryad Khalid Mohammed, a specialist in Software Engineering, discussed the technical aspects of AI and the fundamental transformations it brings to learning systems. Finally, Mr. Ahmad Ramadan Rashid, a specialist in Machine Learning, provided an overview of the field and stressed the importance of awareness and its impact on technological development. The workshop concluded with an open discussion and exchange of ideas between the panelists and the audience

On 22 February 2026, a collaborative workshop on “Cybersecurity Awareness” was successfully organized by the Career Development Center (CDC) in cooperation with the Computer Science Department. The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of digital security challenges and promote safe online practices.
The workshop was presented by Asst. Lect. Sherko Hamalaw from Cihan University Sulaimaniya and Asst. Lect. Snur Jamal from Sulaimani Polytechnic University. The speakers highlighted common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and social engineering, while also discussing practical strategies for data protection and strong password management.
A key feature of the session was its interactive presentation format, which included live discussions, real-world examples, and scenario-based activities. Participants actively engaged with the presenters, making the workshop both informative and impactful.
The event concluded with appreciation for the speakers and a continued commitment by the Career Development Center (CDC) to organize further initiatives that strengthen cybersecurity awareness among students.
