On Saturday, November 22, 2025, Assistant Lecturer Hozan Qasim and Lecturer Dr. Haliz Salman from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, College of Health Sciences, Cihan University–Duhok, conducted a workshop in collaboration with the College of Nursing within the Zakata Zansti initiative. This activity was carried out as a Zakat of Knowledge, aiming to disseminate scientific understanding and promote community education.
The workshop focused on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS), highlighting the collaborative roles of laboratory and nursing professionals in enhancing AMS through accurate diagnostics, proper specimen handling, infection-control adherence, and safe, evidence-based antibiotic use.
Aim:
To emphasize the joint contribution of laboratory and nursing professionals in strengthening AMS and mitigating AMR, in the spirit of knowledge sharing as a form of Zakat.


To celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (Mawlid al-Nabi) and welcome the academic year 2024-2025, Dr. Ali M. Hussein (Head of the Biomedical Sciences Department, Cihan University-Erbil) organized a charity event.
This activity, which was held on Monday, September 16, 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Ali M. Hussein and Assistant Lecturer Hero Ismael Mohammed, involved the Biomedical Sciences Department students visiting the Erbil Orphanage for Boys and Girls. The students from the department as mentioned earlier provided the children living there with school supplies including special sweets on the occasion of Mawlid al-Nabi, and wished them a successful academic year 2024-2025.
Various activities are organized at Cihan University-Erbil annually to serve diverse groups of people. In addition to gathering orphans, conducting such a charity activity plays an important role in enhancing university students’ sense of responsibility towards society.
In the spirit of compassion and social responsibility, students from the Computer Science Department at Cihan University – Erbil organized a heartfelt charity drive to support families in need during the holy month of Ramadan.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, a variety of food items and essential supplies were purchased using the collected funds. Later, the students carefully prepared food baskets filled with staple goods for underprivileged families, ensuring they had the essentials to sustain themselves during the blessed month. The food baskets were then distributed to various areas.
This initiative is part of the students’ ongoing commitment to volunteer work, driven by their sense of social responsibility and desire to make a positive impact. Through such efforts, they fostered kindness and solidarity, especially during times when support is most needed.
They expressed their joy in being able to give back to the community, emphasizing that this drive reflects the core humanitarian values they strive to uphold. Additionally, they shared their hope that their efforts will inspire others to contribute to charitable causes and continue spreading the spirit of generosity and care.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Nouri Hamah Saeed, Director of the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation at Cihan University–Sulaymaniyah, held a seminar for the students of the Educational Complex (Sami Hussein Nazim) at the new Jawarchara residential complex. During the seminar, he highlighted the most common crimes among juveniles from the perspective of Islamic law and legislation. He also provided a summary of the Juvenile Care Law. Among the topics of the seminar were crimes related to the misuse of communication tools. In conclusion, the importance of upholding high values in educational institutions was emphasized. Thanks to the administration and teachers of the complex for their warm welcome.
The preparatory meeting for the Scientific and Intellectual Forum titled ‘The Zakat of Knowledge and Building Cognitive Awareness: Multiple Civilizational Perspectives,’ scheduled to be held on February 15, 2026, was held at the headquarters of Wa’ai Center for Consultations and Capacity Building in Erbil. The meeting witnessed discussions on the main strategic axes that contribute to serving society in general and supporting scientific researchers in particular, in collaboration between Wa’ai Center and Al-Qalaa College.



First, some verses from the Holy Quran were recited, then the Dean of the Castle College at Erbil University delivered a welcoming speech. After that, Dr. Omar Bati presented a seminar titled ‘The Role of Preachers in Psychology’ and focused on religious psychology and its impacts on the preacher and preacheress, highlighting how religious psychology reflects on morals, speech, behavior, competence, intelligence, knowledge, and professionalism. He emphasized that religious teachers are pioneers and bearers of a sacred message, and that they should have a comprehensive understanding of religious psychology and psychology, and be able to deliver Friday sermons with calmness and balance.
Before the conclusion of the seminar, there was an intense and fruitful discussion between Dr. Omar Bati and the religious teachers. In the end, the General Director of Awqaf, in a statement, in addition to congratulating the University of Erbil, Qala College, emphasized his support for organizing such seminars and said: “As Awqaf, we thank the University of Erbil, Qala College, and Dr. Omar Bati, and we thank the religious teachers, who always come enthusiastically to such activities, and this is appreciated.” He added: “As Awqaf, we will always cooperate in any activity that serves religious teachers, Muslims, and the community, and leads to the development of the idea of moderation, understanding, and peace of mind.” After that, the Dean of Qala College at the University of Erbil expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Tayeb Zarar Shirwani, the General Director of Awqaf, and Dr. Omar Bati.
On Monday (2/12/2024), Mr. B. D. Nouri Hama Said, the director of the Zakat Science Foundation, presented a seminar titled: “The Limits of Words, When Language Becomes a Tool for Assault” for primary school students in the town of Bazian, where he addressed crimes such as insult, defamation, threats, slander, and other offenses from the perspective of Islamic Sharia and Iraqi criminal law.
A seminar was held for teachers and students at cihan School in Duhok, where the benefits of the day in terms of human health were discussed, including how many days should be observed annually for each person, in addition to the religious aspect and the day of fasting for the participants.
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the presence of Tayeb Zarar Sherwani, the Director General of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Erbil Governorate, and Dr. Aym Ali, Dean of the Castle College at Erbil University, the Castle College at Erbil University, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Endowments in Erbil Governorate, organized a seminar titled “The Role of Preachers in Psychological Development” for a large number of religious teachers in the central endowments in Erbil and its surroundings.
