Business Administration Department at Cihan University-Erbil Conducted a Public Awareness Campaign on Water Conservation

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Business Administration Department at Cihan University-Erbil conducted a public awareness campaign on Water Conservation. This initiative aimed to educate the community on responsible water utilization practices.

Informative brochures, developed by the department and its students, served as a key component of the campaign’s outreach strategy. Emphasizing the critical need for water preservation, the brochures, bearing the slogan ‘Conserve Water, Preserve the Planet, Every Drop Counts!’, presented data on water waste, such as the significant water loss of up to 20 gallons daily attributed to dripping faucets. Additionally, the materials provided practical strategies for reducing household water consumption. These recommendations included minimizing prompt repair of plumbing leaks, efficient dishwashing techniques, and reducing shower durations and water usage during oral hygiene practices, such as turning off the tap while brushing.

The Business Administration Department students from various academic levels actively participated in distributing informational brochures to residents of the Hay-Askary area in Erbil. This participatory approach facilitated broader dissemination of the campaign’s message and promoted the adoption of water-saving behaviors within the local community.

The campaign was conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawod, the department head, and coordinated by Asst. Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qader. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to environmental sustainability by connecting student learning with meaningful community engagement.
