Fourth-Stage Students of Duhok Computer Institute Visit Cihan University – Duhok

On Saturday, January 25, Cihan University – Duhok organized a scientific visit under the Scientific Zakat Project, in coordination with the university’s medical laboratories, for 25 fourth-stage students from Duhok Computer Institute. During the visit, important information about all departments and colleges of the university was presented. The students were then given a tour of the university library and various academic departments to familiarize them with the educational environment and facilities. Afterward, a seminar was delivered by Mr. Riyan Sadiq on “Initial First Aid Procedures,” providing the students with valuable introductory knowledge in emergency response.

The program also included a visit to the Kurdish House, where its cultural and academic significance was introduced to the distinguished guests. At the end of the visit, a group photo was taken to commemorate the occasion.

In line with its social responsibility and in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the “Scientific Zakat” initiative adopted by Cihan University-Erbil, the university launched a distinctive cultural initiative aimed at supporting school libraries and enriching knowledge for younger generations.

On January 14, 2026, a student delegation from the Business Administration Department visited Al-Nasr School for Distinguished Girls under the Erbil Representation. The visit was sponsored by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Q. Birdawod, and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salami.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the school principal, Ms. Lina Saadi Lefteh, and the teaching staff, who expressed their happiness with this initiative that embodies the spirit of cooperation between the university and educational institutions.

The visit culminated a cultural project adopted by the Business Administration Department under the university’s patronage, where over 70 books from the publications of Cihan University’s Publishing and Printing House were delivered. The collection covered diverse topics in literature, law, administration, accounting, and politics, in three languages: Arabic, Kurdish, and English.

On this occasion, the school principal stated: “We thank Cihan University-Erbil and the Business Administration Department for this generous gesture, which not only enriches our library but also promotes a culture of reading and research among our students, representing a living model of constructive partnership between higher education and the community”.

This step reinforces the university’s role as an active partner in community development, paving the way for more joint initiatives that serve the education sector and enrich the cultural environment in the region.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in fulfillment of its social responsibility and in support of the Fourth United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil launched a volunteer initiative to rehabilitate Bakhcha-i Mandalani Gulala Kindergarten in Hana City–Havlan.

Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salami, a delegation of first-stage students conducted a diagnostic field visit to the kindergarten. The kindergarten director, Ms. Shirmin Faki Abdullah, and the teaching staff warmly received the delegation. During the field tour, the delegation observed extensive damage caused by recent heavy rains in the area. Several classroom ceilings had partially collapsed, rainwater had leaked indoors, and the flooring, along with educational and administrative furniture, had been severely damaged. In addition, the kindergarten was experiencing a complete power outage. Due to these unsafe conditions, the administration was forced to suspend operations to ensure the children’s safety.

Commenting on the initiative, the kindergarten director stated:

This initiative represents a real beacon of hope for our children. The partnership with the university will help us reopen the kindergarten and restore a safe and suitable educational environment once again.”

At the end of the visit, the kindergarten director and teaching staff expressed their sincere gratitude to the Cihan University–Erbil delegation for this humanitarian initiative, which aims to rehabilitate the kindergarten and transform it into a safe, supportive, and inspiring educational environment that contributes to building a better future for coming generations.

On Monday, 12 January 2026, students from the Department of Business Administration, in coordination with students from the Department of Public Administration, provided food supplies to an orphanage as part of their commitment to social responsibility and community service.

The activity was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Mr. Sherwan Abdulrahman Hussein, the manager of the orphanage.

During the visit, the manager provided the students with detailed information about the orphanage, which operates under the Directorate of Social Affairs. He explained that the orphanage accommodates children from one day old up to eighteen years of age. Sleeping facilities are provided, with two or three children sharing each room. The children receive three meals daily.

At the end of the activity, Mr. Sherwan Abdulrahman Hussein expressed his appreciation to the staff of both the Business Administration and Public Administration departments for their attention to vulnerable groups in society, including orphanages and homes for the elderly. In return, the supervising lecturer thanked the orphanage staff and confirmed that further support and assistance would be provided in the future.
