Ramadan Food Basket Campaign: Humanitarian Efforts by the Department of General Education and the Department of Media to Support Needy Families

The General Education Department and the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil organized the Ramadan food basket campaign by distributing food baskets to underprivileged families. This initiative aimed to support and assist needy families with basic needs during the blessed holy month of Ramadan.

The campaign witnessed the distribution of numerous food baskets containing various essential items such as flour, oil, sugar, rice, legumes, and other necessary supplies that help families meet their daily living needs. These baskets were carefully distributed to ensure they reached the most deserving families, reflecting the campaign organizers’ deep humanitarian sensibility.

Cihan University-Erbil emphasized that this initiative is part of its social responsibility and commitment to serving the community. On, June 27, 2026, in an academic ceremony attended by the Head of the Department and all faculty members, the “Scientific Zakat” training course titled “Foundation of Microbiology” was successfully concluded. The course was organized and delivered by the faculty members, Asst. Lect. Hozan Qasim and Asst. Lect. Sherwan Hussein.

During the ceremony, certificates of participation were presented to the attendees. Furthermore, the department’s presidency commended the instructors and wished the participants continued success in their educational journey and the development of their practical and hands-on skills.

As part of the ongoing activities of the Technology and Artificial Intelligence Course and within the framework of volunteer services provided by the “Zakāt al-Ilm” Foundation at Cihan University-Duhok, Mr. Bilal Hikmat Rasheed presented a lecture on August 9, 2026. The session focused on the importance of technology and artificial intelligence and their impact on various fields of work, aiming to develop and enhance the skills of the participants, who are staff members of the Khani Cultural and Media Center.

In line with the continuous directives of the University President (Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdul-Muhsin Asaad) to emphasize awareness and development programs for all segments of society, and as part of the ongoing activities of the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation at Cihan University-Duhok, a special seminar titled “First Aid” was presented on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

The seminar was conducted by Mr. Bassam Shawkat and Mr. Karzan Ismail, lab instructors in the medical laboratories at the university, for the participants of the 5th Pedagogical Course. The session covered in detail the core principles of first aid, urgent procedures for saving patient lives, and effective protocols for managing emergency situations to protect community health.
