Today, on May 12, 2025, under the slogan “Volunteering is Our Responsibility”, a formal ceremony was held to mark the continuation of the partnership between the Scientific Zakat Organization and Cihan University – Duhok. The event was attended by Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajger, President of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities and Institutes, and Prof. Dr. Zervan Abdulmohsen Asaad, President of Cihan University – Duhok, along with a number of government officials, religious figures, parliament members, and representatives from relevant institutions.
Following keynote speeches by the university president and the president of the board of trustees, a memorandum of understanding and cooperation was signed between the university and five public and social entities, with the goal of serving various segments and components of society. These entities include:

🔸️2. General Directorate of Community Monitoring and Development – Duhok
🔸️3. Directorate of Combating Violence Against Women and Family
🔸️4. Duhok Branch of the Kurdistan Women’s Union
🔸️5. Independent Human Rights Commission – Duhok Governorate
This agreement follows a series of prior collaborative efforts and joint activities between the university and several governmental bodies, organizations, centers, unions, and civil society groups.

On May 5, 2025, the organization held its inaugural Scientific Zakat Conference in Erbil. The event featured a wide range of research papers, academic discussions, and presentations addressing educational, awareness, and scientific topics. As a continuation of this initiative, the current event was held on May 12, 2025, at Cihan University – Duhok.
The Scientific Zakat Organization operates under the umbrella of Cihan Universities Group, with a mission to provide:
– Scientific, academic, educational, and awareness-based services
– Public health and psychological counseling services
– Free support to low-income families
– Assistance to patients with chronic illnesses
– Courses, workshops, and seminars for religious instructors and government administrators
Additionally, the organization works to empower and support students, youth, women, and disadvantaged individuals, especially those unable to continue their education. This includes organizing skill-building and development programs designed to create real and impactful employment opportunities.
