The College of Arts and Letters and College of Education at Cihan University – Erbil organized a specialized training course on Innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Mastering Educational Sciences, English Language, and Translation Skills. The training course aimed to enhance the professional development of academic staff and empower them to use AI applications in the educational process to enhance the quality of education.
This course, which was held from March 9, 2025, to March 20, 2025, at Cihan Academy Hall, consisted of five sessions. The first session, titled Artificial Intelligence in Education: Personalized Learning and Assessment, was presented by Dr. Samrand Amini from the Department of General Education.
Session two, which was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Reem Jaafar from the Department of Computer Science, was titled The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching English. Moreover, the third session on The Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Research for the Departments of General Education, English, and Translation was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Reem Jaafar from the Department of Computer Science.
Additionally, Assistant Lecturer Yazan Saifuddin Mahmoud from the Department of Software Engineering and Informatic, presented his training course on The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Translation. The last session, titled Tools to Enhance the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education and Learning, was delivered by Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun from the Department of General Education.
This course has several advantages. It was part of the university’s efforts to help academic staff keep pace with technological advancements and equip them with modern educational tools. Not only did it transfer knowledge, but it also contributed to building the concept of innovation within educational institutions, which will positively impact students’ experiences and their readiness for the future job market.
It gave academic staff more personalized and interactive learning experiences and the opportunity to assess students’ performance and track their academic progress.

Dlovan Amjad Badin, a third-year student from the International Relations and Diplomacy Department at Cihan University-Erbil, participated in organizing population census workshops in Iraq on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. He contributed by delivering training programs and practical lectures to those who will be involved in conducting the population census.
During the session, he provided comprehensive information on the key procedures followed in such nationwide censuses, including essential data that must be collected from individuals, how to design the census forms, and how to ensure they are filled out accurately and correctly by the enumerators.
The student also gave a detailed explanation of the best ways census workers should interact with citizens, emphasizing that courtesy, respect, and asking questions clearly and directly help obtain all the precise information needed to carry out the population census in Iraq successfully.
The course, held in the conference hall of the Ankawa Royal Hotel in Erbil, took place from October 6 to October 10, 2024. It was a joint effort between the Department of Biochemical Analysis and the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Cihan University – Erbil.
The course was under supervision of Assistant.Prof. Dr. Enas Diaa, a lecturer in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy, who provided both theoretical and practical lectures on strategic planning, crisis management, and the application of artificial intelligence in strategic plans aimed at rebuilding Iraqi state institutions. This initiative highlights Cihan University – Erbil’s ongoing commitment to organizing such activities across various fields, with the goal of serving the community and contributing to the development of modern state institutions.

60 young males and females from Tanahi and Hawshke area participated in a training course on human development. On July 7th, 2024, as part of the (Zalat Al-Ilm) program, Cihan University-Duhok, General Education Department opened a training course on human development for 60 young participants from Tanahi complex and Hawshke area, which will last of 2 weeks. The training course includes the following subjects (English language, computer skills, education, and psychology). The following instructors assigned three distinct subjects on the first day: -Mr. Hajar Ali: discussed the advantages of enrolling in summer courses and engaging in self-development over the summer holiday. -Mr. Ali Abdulqader: discussed the issues that arise among young individuals and provided strategies for effectively addressing and resolving these concerns. -Mr. Zeravan Ayoub: discussed the challenges English language learners face. The aforementioned training course, in collaboration with the Tanahi Women Center, has been organized to enhance the skills and knowledge of young adults and students during their summer holidays.



On June 30, 2024, Cihan University-Duhok, English department opened an English language course for Duhok-TV staff members as part of the (Zakat Al-Ilm) program. The course is scheduled to run for a duration of 3 weeks. The course aims to help the participants develop their English language, especially those who plan to start learning English language. The participants are provided with fundamental components of English language as well as a great deal of relevant content. The major goals for the participants are to improve their speaking and communication skills, enabling them to communicate more effectively and confidently. Community service is one of the key values of the university, and this activity illustrates that commitment. The university encourages both the instructors and its students to share their knowledge and to contribute to the community by participating in a variety of activities.



On July 1st, 2024, the Department of General Education at Cihan University – Duhok held a training course for sixth-grade students within the “Zakat Al-Ilm” program, which the university provides annually to serve the community in Duhok Governorate. The course included a series of lectures presented by a group of specialized teachers. The first lecture was entitled “How do you deal with this stage and its psychological pressures and how do you deal with your negative thoughts and maintain mental health?” It was presented by Mr. Badr Jamal Juma from the Department of General Education, Psychology Branch.



On Monday, July 3rd, 2024, the Department of General Education at Cihan University – Dohuk held a training course for sixth-grade middle school students as part of the “Zakat al Ielm” program that the university provides annually in service to the community. The course included a series of lectures presented by a group of specialized professors. The second lecture was entitled “How to Choose a Specialization According to the Upcoming Labor Market,” and was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawar Al-Saadi, specialist in international economics and director of the University’s Research Center.



The activities of the Moot Court Competition in International Law (Jessup), organized by the Department of Law at Cihan University-Erbil, concluded on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The competition, which lasted for three days and began on February 10, 2025, witnessed the participation of eleven Iraqi universities from various parts of the country.
The competition, which represents one of the most prestigious legal competitions in the world, was organized to enhance students’ understanding of international law issues and introduce them to ways to offer legal advice in a broad global context. Numerous teams from different universities in Iraq participated in the competition, where legal arguments were presented by students representing different universities in the context of hypothetical legal cases.
The local round of the competition was held at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of an elite group of judges specialized in international law. The judges participating in this event were honored in recognition of their significant contribution to the success of the competition. The winning team, which achieved the highest scores in legal arguments based on complex topics related to the International Court, was also honored. The winning team was later announced, which received a valuable opportunity to participate in the international round of the competition in Washington, USA.
In the end, the Faculty of Law’s speech was delivered by Dr. Omar Zubair Zahir, Head of the Law Department at Cihan University-Erbil. He expressed his pride in organizing this important event, which reflects the university’s commitment to providing a distinguished educational environment for its students and encourages them to excel and innovate in the field of international law.
On June 30, 2024, the Spanish language course ended, which was conducted by English Department by the instructor (Dr. Ahmad Abdulkareem shaaban). The course aimed to help the participants develop their Spanish language, especially those who plan to start learning the Spanish language. The participants were provided with fundamental components of the Spanish language as well as a great deal of relevant content. Certificates were given to the participants at the end of the course
