Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,May 1, 2026, The “Towards Excellence” (Baraw Balla Bun) event, organized by Rozh Institute and primarily sponsored by Cihan University-Sulaimaniya, was held with the attendance of over 2,000 students. During the event, Asst. Lect. Lehat Yousif, Director of Admissions and Registration at Cihan University-Sulaimaniya, provided detailed information about the university to the attendees. Following this, the admissions and registration staff distributed gifts and brochures to the students participating in the event.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,April 28, 2026, Third-year students from the General Education Department at Cihan University–Sulaimaniya translated six children’s books from English into Kurdish and Arabic. The books, originally brought from the UK, were printed and illustrated before being presented as gifts to Grade 2 and 3 pupils at Cihan Private School. Supervised by Ms. Tafan Kamal Karim, the initiative was both productive and heartwarming, bringing joy to the children while enhancing the students’ practical skills.

On 22 February 2026, a collaborative workshop on “Cybersecurity Awareness” was successfully organized by the Career Development Center (CDC) in cooperation with the Computer Science Department. The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of digital security challenges and promote safe online practices.
The workshop was presented by Asst. Lect. Sherko Hamalaw from Cihan University Sulaimaniya and Asst. Lect. Snur Jamal from Sulaimani Polytechnic University. The speakers highlighted common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and social engineering, while also discussing practical strategies for data protection and strong password management.
A key feature of the session was its interactive presentation format, which included live discussions, real-world examples, and scenario-based activities. Participants actively engaged with the presenters, making the workshop both informative and impactful.
The event concluded with appreciation for the speakers and a continued commitment by the Career Development Center (CDC) to organize further initiatives that strengthen cybersecurity awareness among students.
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, on the occasion of Flag Day, the Department of Media at Cihan University–Erbil organized a field activity at Milli Market in the Newroz neighbourhood, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim.
The activity was participated by students from both the first and second stages of the Department of Media. During the activity, the students distributed Kurdistan flags and informational brochures to citizens at Milli Market in the Newroz neighbourhood of Erbil city. The brochure content included information about the Kurdistan flag and its components, as well as the history of raising the Kurdistan flag for the first time by Peshawa Qazi Muhammad. In addition, the brochure referred to the 2009 decision of the Kurdistan Parliament, which designated December 17 of each year as Flag Day.
The purpose of the activity was to commemorate Flag Day, raise public awareness about the history and symbolism of the Kurdistan flag, and foster loyalty and national identity among citizens. These aims reflect one of the main objectives of the Department of Media in organizing this meaningful activity.
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, second- and third-year students from the Department of Business Administration organized a community activity in Bazzari Qaysari.
They distributed Tally Counter devices to visitors and shoppers. The initiative was voluntary and aimed to promote spiritual practices while fostering community engagement. The activity was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. During the activity, students engaged with members of the public and explained the purpose of the tally counters, which are commonly used to help individuals keep track of recitations.
This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to encouraging students to participate in community service and to strengthen their sense of social responsibility. It also provided students with an opportunity to enhance their communication and teamwork skills through direct interaction with the local community. On Thursday, February 26, 2026, second- and fourth-year students from the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil carried out a humanitarian and social activity under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir.
The activity was organized to promote a spirit of cooperation, solidarity, and humanitarian support among citizens, while also enabling students to demonstrate their sense of social responsibility through practical action. To achieve these objectives, the students, together with Assistant Lecturer Hevi, prepared more than 100 Iftar meals, which were distributed to citizens traveling to and from the city of Erbil at the Zrgazraw checkpoint.
At the end of the activity, the initiative brought happiness to the travelers, who expressed their gratitude to the staff of the aforementioned department for their meaningful effort. They described the initiative as significant and noted that such activities have a positive impact on strengthening the relationship between the university and society, as well as on developing students’ abilities in humanitarian and charitable work.
The Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized an environmental cleanup activity focused on protecting the environment in the Kurdistan Region and removing harmful waste. The department carried out this activity across Erbil to raise environmental awareness and promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
The activity took place on Monday, February 16, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir, with the participation of a number of second-stage students from the Business Administration Department. At the beginning of the activity, necessary cleaning materials—including trash bags, gloves, and other tools—were distributed to the participants. During the activity, students actively participated in cleaning the Bekhma area, which is visited annually by many tourists. As a result, a large portion of the area was cleaned, and a significant amount of waste was collected. The instructor and students emphasized the importance of taking initiative to protect the environment and maintain the cleanliness of tourist and public areas.
In conclusion, the activity helped students enhance their environmental awareness and sense of social responsibility, while also encouraging teamwork and practical efforts to preserve a clean environment.
On Monday, February 16, 2026, students from the Department of Business Administration, in cooperation with the Cultural Center at Cihan University–Erbil, organized a field activity to search for valuable stones. The aim of this activity was to raise environmental awareness and social responsibility among students by promoting the collection of valuable recyclable materials and encouraging sustainable practical activities within the university through collaboration between the Department of Business Administration and the Cultural Center.
The trip was led by Ms. Sara Hassan Hussein, Director of the Cultural Center, while the students were supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. The activity took place in the Bekhma area and lasted for seven hours.
At the beginning of the activity, Ms. Sara provided an introductory explanation about the names and types of stones. She explained that there are around 4,000 known types of stones worldwide, such as ruby, jade, emerald, and others. She also discussed how stones are used in jewelry making and highlighted their important role from the early formation of life to the present day.
During the field trip, the instructor guided the students in searching for and collecting valuable stones. Throughout the activity, the students successfully identified several types of stones, including approximately ten valuable varieties.
This activity provided students with an opportunity to gain foundational knowledge about different types of stones and their uses in jewelry making.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a public awareness campaign aimed at protecting public property and promoting civic responsibility within the community. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to social responsibility and its ongoing efforts to foster a culture of respect for shared spaces and public resources.
During the campaign, first-year students participated under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. The students visited various neighborhoods in Erbil to distribute awareness brochures, sharing them with residents, shop owners, and street vendors while encouraging the responsible use of public property. The primary goal was to raise awareness about protecting public resources, reducing damage, and promoting a cleaner, safer, and more organized urban environment.
Prior to the campaign, the students, guided by the department’s academic staff, prepared and printed brochures titled “Public Property Belongs to Everyone.” These brochures provided valuable information emphasizing that protecting public property reflects the values and image of society. They highlighted key messages, including the importance of respecting shared spaces as a sign of consideration for others and how responsible individual behavior can prevent damage. The brochures also encouraged citizens to take practical actions that support sustainability, such as keeping streets and parks clean, protecting public facilities, and promoting respectful behavior in public areas.
The campaign not only increased community awareness but also strengthened social responsibility by demonstrating how cooperation and civic engagement can enhance quality of life. Residents, shop owners, street vendors, and visitors expressed appreciation for the students’ efforts, noting that such initiatives contribute to a healthier, more attractive, and better-organized city environment.
On Wednesday, January 4, 2026, students from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil provided clothing for an orphanage. As part of their sense of social responsibility, the department organized a humanitarian activity for the orphanage with the participation of fourth-year students.
The activity was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawood, Head of the Department of Business Administration, and coordinated by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. This initiative was carried out within the department’s efforts to strengthen community participation and social responsibility among students.
The students were warmly welcomed by Ms. Kwesta N. Mohammad during the visit. During the activity, the participating students distributed clothes to the children at the orphanage, which brought happiness and joy to them. This initiative aimed to support the children during the winter season by providing essential items that help protect them from the cold weather. The distribution process was carried out in an organized and respectful manner.
The main goal of this activity was to offer humanitarian assistance to the children of the orphanage, while at the same time promoting values of empathy, cooperation, and voluntary service among the students. The activity also sought to raise awareness among students and the wider community about the importance of active participation in community development.
