On Monday, May 19, 2025, in the presence of political and governmental figures, representatives of civil society organizations, academics, and students, a scientific panel was held under the title:
“The Iraqi Parliamentary Elections: Between Strengthening the Federal System and Addressing Political Crises”
at the College of Law, Cihan University – Duhok, in cooperation with the Legal Research and Consultation Center at the College of Law – University of Duhok.
The event began with a welcoming speech by Dr. Rebar Hussein, Dean of the College of Law at Cihan University – Duhok. This was followed by an introduction to the goals of the panel presented by Prof. Dr. Afin Khalid Abdulrahman, Dean of the College of Law – University of Duhok.
The panel featured four main sessions moderated by Dr. Dzhwar Ahmed:
- First Session: Presented by Dr. Ranjbar Jamil Shekho, Head of the Legal Research and Consultation Center – University of Duhok, discussing the philosophical foundations of the electoral process.
- Second Session: Presented by Mr. Khalid Ahmed, head of the Elections Department of the KDP’s Duhok Branch, focusing on mechanisms for candidate nomination.
- Third Session: Presented by Dr. Renas Jano, former member of the Iraqi Parliament, on political awareness and activating electoral participation.
- Fourth and Final Session: Presented by Dr. Jamal Kocher, current Member of Parliament, evaluating the electoral process through the role and performance of representatives.
At the end of the event, a Q&A and open discussion session was held between the panelists and the attendees.
