As part of the ongoing activities of the Technology and Artificial Intelligence Course and within the framework of volunteer services provided by the “Zakāt al-Ilm” Foundation at Cihan University-Duhok, Mr. Bilal Hikmat Rasheed presented a lecture on August 9, 2026. The session focused on the importance of technology and artificial intelligence and their impact on various fields of work, aiming to develop and enhance the skills of the participants, who are staff members of the Khani Cultural and Media Center.
In line with the continuous directives of the University President (Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdul-Muhsin Asaad) to emphasize awareness and development programs for all segments of society, and as part of the ongoing activities of the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation at Cihan University-Duhok, a special seminar titled “First Aid” was presented on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The seminar was conducted by Mr. Bassam Shawkat and Mr. Karzan Ismail, lab instructors in the medical laboratories at the university, for the participants of the 5th Pedagogical Course. The session covered in detail the core principles of first aid, urgent procedures for saving patient lives, and effective protocols for managing emergency situations to protect community health.
Under the directives of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, the Scientific Zakat Institution organized a special awareness seminar for student transport drivers. The main objective of this seminar was to enhance the drivers’ ability to cope with psychological stress during work and control emotional outbursts (anger).
During the seminar, several key topics were emphasized, including:
– Proper methods for interacting with students’ behaviors and psychology.
– Self-control techniques during traffic congestion, alongside mental preparedness for dealing with unexpected problems
On June 30, 2026, as a continuation of the activities and services of the (Zakat Al-Ilm) foundation at Cihan University-Duhok for community awareness and development, and in the presence of a number of faculty members and staff, a distinctive seminar was presented by Mr. (Abdulaziz Muhsin Barzani) on “The Sense of Responsibility in Society.”
Key Topics of the Seminar:
– Defining the concept of a sense of responsibility and its significance for both individuals and community development.
– Analyzing the role of the individual in facing challenges and committing to daily and social duties.
– Proposing effective solutions and methods to foster a spirit of responsibility toward building a healthier and more conscious society.
On July 8, 2026, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and congratulate the new Director of the Directorate of Directing and Moral Leading in Duhok, Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmohsen Asaad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Bayar Mohamed Rasheed, Vice President of the University, conducted an official visit to the aforementioned directorate.
The university delegation was warmly received by Colonel Cherwan Mohsin, Director of the Directorate, along with its officers. During the meeting, in addition to extending congratulations, both sides discussed various topics and frameworks related to the university’s services for different segments of society. This included the “Science Zakat Foundation” program, which aims to provide rehabilitation, awareness, and capacity-building programs to develop the skills of the directorate’s personnel, employees, and officers.
Within the framework of the “Zakat Al-elm” Foundation program and as part of its efforts to care for the environment and beautify educational institutions, a broad tree planting and distribution campaign was launched today, Monday, July 13, 2026. The initiative was graciously led by Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, in cooperation and coordination with the Duhok Directorate of Education/East.
The campaign was launched in the presence of:
- Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad (President of Cihan University-Duhok)
- Mr. Segvan Hassan Ali (Acting Director General of Education in Duhok Governorate)
- Ms. Delvin Haji Ahmed (Director of Education for Duhok District/East)
The campaign officially began across schools within the jurisdiction of the Duhok East Education Directorate. Its first stop today was at “Lesav” School, where a number of trees were planted in its courtyards. This step aims to expand green spaces and create a healthy and sustainable educational environment for students.
In accordance with the continuous directives of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen As’ad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, and with the aim of emphasizing the awareness and development program of the Scientific Zakat Foundation as well as serving various segments of society, the Department of Computer Science at Cihan University-Duhok commenced a specialized training course today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, under the title:
“Developing Programming Skills and Artificial Intelligence – AI”
This course was organized to teach programming languages and the application of artificial intelligence technology to prepare and support programming skills.
On the third day of the course, the schedule proceeded as follows:
First Session: Presented by Mr. Salar Faisal Nuri, focusing on assessing the skills and talents of the course participants in the field of technology and artificial intelligence. Reference was also made to the methods and mechanisms of delivering seminars and presentations using AI tools.
Second Session: Presented by Mr. Muhammad Shakeeb, a staff member of the Media Unit, introducing AI tools and their application in generating images and designs.
The following topics were discussed:
Formulating professional commands (Prompts) and editing high-quality images.
Designing social media content and integrating artificial intelligence with design software.
Executing practical projects and best practices for professional work.
In accordance with the continuous directives of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen As’ad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, and with the goal of supporting the awareness and development program of the Scientific Zakat Foundation as well as serving various segments of society, the Department of Computer Science continues the activities of its specialized training course titled:
“Developing Programming Skills and Artificial Intelligence – AI”
This course comes as part of the department’s commitment to teaching programming languages and applying artificial intelligence technologies to enhance and develop participants’ programming capabilities. On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the second day of the course successfully continued with the following sessions:
- Web Development: Presented by Assistant Lecturer Shaker Mahmoud Abbas.
- Artificial Intelligence in Computer Networks (Modern Technologies and Applications): Presented by Assistant Lecturer Bilal Hikmat Rasheed.
Following the recommendations of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmohsen Assad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, aimed at developing and prioritizing awareness projects for various groups and segments of society, and in continuation of the (Zakat Al-Ilm / Alms of Knowledge) program activities, the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Tourism in Duhok, organized a workshop on health awareness on Monday, June 22, 2026.
During the workshop, the topics were presented by Assist. Lect. Ava Hamdi Said, while Ms. Hozheen Ahmed served as the coordinator of this activity. This initiative falls within the framework of the university’s strategy to further serve the community and spread health awareness.
Under the patronage of the University Presidency, and in an effort to disseminate cultural and health awareness within the academic community, the Department of Anesthesia at Cihan University-Duhok organized an important training course titled “Health Awareness for Patient Caregivers and Companions,” as part of the activities of the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation for Awareness and General Culture program.
On the first day of the course, dated June 23, 2026, the opening lecture was delivered by Mr. Bassam Shawkat and Mr. Karzan Ismail. The lecture focused on proper mechanisms for providing primary care to patients and how to handle various health conditions at home and in the workplace.

As part of the ongoing activities and initiatives of the Science Zakat Foundation, and under the theme “Science Zakat Is Our Responsibility,” Mr. Ali Karim Zamen, Administrative Director of the Zakat of Knowledge Foundation, and Mr. Paydar Mohsen, Manager of Dr.Nawzad Bajger Museum, visited the Erbil Retirees Center on August 31, 2026.
During the visit, they met with a number of retirees and introduced them to the vision, activities, and initiatives of the Science Zakat Foundation. They also invited the respected retirees to participate in the Foundation’s meetings and activities and to share their valuable views and perspectives.
At the end of the visit, copies of the book “Science Zakat” were distributed among the retirees. They expressed their appreciation for the initiative and extended their sincere thanks to the Science Zakat Foundation for the visit and its efforts.
In accordance with the continuous directives of Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdul-Mohsin Assad, President of Cihan University-Duhok, to provide voluntary educational and capacity-building services to the community, the university successfully held the closing ceremony for the English language training course on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Organised under the “Scientific Zakat” project in coordination with the Shekhan Sports and Youth Center, the ceremony coincided with International Youth Day and drew a large public attendance.
The specialized, free course, delivered by Mr. Dilsher Younis under the title “How to Learn the English Language and Its Impact on Employment and Youth Development,” concluded with the distribution of certificates of completion to participants. The event highlighted the critical role of English proficiency in opening career opportunities and empowering youth development.
Based on the ongoing guidance of Professor Dr. Zirvan Abdulmohsen Asaad, President of Cihan University – Duhok, and with the aim of supporting the awareness and development program of the “Zakat Al-Ilm” Foundation and serving various segments of society, the Department of Computer Science at Cihan University – Duhok commenced a specialized training course today, Monday, August 17, 2026, entitled:
(Developing Programming and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skills)
This course aims to teach programming languages and the application of artificial intelligence technologies to enhance and develop the programming skills of the participants.
The program for the first day of the course included the following topics:
- Opening Remarks: Delivered by Assistant Lecturer Bilal Hikmat Rashid.
- First Topic: (Programming in the Age of Artificial Intelligence): Presented by Assistant Lecturer Khalid Ibrahim Khalaf.
- Second Topic: (Programming with Python and Artificial Intelligence): Presented by Lecturer Dozdar Mahdi Ahmed.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah , The General Education Department at Cihan University-Sulaimaniya organized a training course for final-year students in April 29 and May 5, 2026, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachatani. The course aims to prepare students for the post-graduation phase, equipping them with essential job market skills and introducing modern teaching methodologies and professional interaction strategies within the educational environment.
Within the framework of volunteer work for the Zakat Al-Ilm foundation at Cihan University Sulaimaniyah ,On August 31, 2026, as part of the Scientific Zakat Foundation activities at Cihan University – Sulaimaniya, Assistant Lecturer Basoz Tofiq from the Department of Business Administration conducted a specialized marketing training session at the Women’s Media and Cultural Organization (Rewan).
The training aimed to develop the capabilities of women who own independent businesses or plan to start them in the future. The course focused on the core principles of marketing, strategy formulation, and measuring brand image, alongside highlighting the importance of building long-term customer relationships and conducting market research, as customers seek solutions rather than mere product features.
It was also emphasized that social media messages must be clear and direct so that, from the very first glance, they serve the primary objective of increasing sales.
At the conclusion of the training, Hana Shwan, President of the Women’s Media and Cultural Organization (Rewan)., expressed her gratitude to the lecturer and commended the coordination and ongoing engagement between the university and the community.
As part of the volunteer work of the Zakat of Knowledge Foundation at Cihan University – Sulaymaniyah, on September 2, 2026, Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachêtani, Director of the Psychological and Social Counseling Center at Cihan University – Sulaymaniyah, participated in the “Talent Creators” event, which was held at the Palace of Arts.
The event was organized by Talent Hub Foundation, under the supervision of the General Directorate of Education of Sulaymaniyah, in cooperation with Kurdsat Media, with the aim of supporting and developing the abilities of creative young people.
As part of the event, Prof. Dr. Karim Sharif Qarachêtani delivered a presentation entitled “Creative Thinking and the Characteristics of a Creative Person.” In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of creative thinking and its role in developing the personal and social abilities of young people. He also addressed the characteristics and qualities of a creative person, as well as ways to develop creative abilities.
This participation represented an important step toward promoting a culture of creativity and encouraging young people to think in new ways, generate creative ideas, and utilize their personal abilities to find innovative and effective solutions.
In accordance with the ongoing directives of the President of Cihan University-Duhok, Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen As’ad, to promote volunteerism through the “Zakat Al-Ilm” (Scientific Charity) project and deliver academic services to the community, the free training course titled “Introduction to Medical Laboratory” has officially commenced.
The course is presented by Mr. Diyar Sabah Salih, a lab assistant in the medical laboratories at Cihan University-Duhok. It covers key scientific topics and offers practical training on laboratory testing methods for the participants.
The course will run for five days, from August 23 to 27, 2026.
Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as part of the framework and plan of the Zakat Al-elm Foundation program at Cihan University-Duhok, a training course titled “Occupational Conflict Management“ was launched, presented by the University President, Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsin Asaad.
The course witnessed active and distinguished participation from faculty members and university staff. It highlighted several important themes regarding mechanisms for handling and managing workplace conflicts, alongside discussions on various examples, methods, and patterns of occupational conflict.
In conclusion, the floor was opened for discussion and dialogue, where professors and staff contributed valuable opinions and insights that significantly enriched the session.
On June 22, 2026, as part of the awareness and general cultural activities organized by the “Zakat Al-Ilm” Foundation at Cihan University-Duhok—which launched two weeks ago and continues to offer its knowledge-sharing and scientific services—a seminar was held under the title:
“Institutional Governance and Legal Awareness Under the Principle: Ignorance of the Law Is No Excuse”
The seminar was presented by Dr. Djwar Ahmed Birames, a lecturer in the Department of Law.
The event featured a comprehensive and detailed academic presentation addressing the dimensions of institutional governance and mechanisms for enhancing public legal awareness. It also highlighted the constitutional and legal principle that “no individual can evade liability under the pretext of ignorance of the law,” emphasizing its impact on reinforcing the rule of law and defining the legal responsibilities of both individuals and institutions.
On June 20, 2026, within the framework of the Zakat Al-Ilm program, the College of Pharmacy at Cihan University–Duhok launched an intensive practical training course entitled “Fundamentals of Pharmacy Practice” for students of pharmacy colleges and departments, conducted by Dr. Zeyad Abdullah Basheer.
This two-day course aims to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and essential skills required for professional pharmacy practice by combining core scientific concepts with hands-on laboratory training. This enables participants to gain vital introductory experience in community pharmacy services and pharmaceutical compounding techniques
In line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Cihan University–Duhok—represented by University President Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad—and the Administration of Semel District, and as part of the voluntary project implemented by the “Zakat Al-elm Foundation” to provide training, raise awareness, and build capacities across various sectors of society, the training course titled “The Art of Dealing, Job Loyalty, and Capacity Building” continues for several department heads, unit leaders, and directors in Semel District.
Continuing the activities of this course, on August 12, 2026, another lecture was presented by Dr. Djwar Ahmed, titled “Between Wise Management and Administrative Governance: Kurdistan Region Institutions as a Model.” The lecture addressed the concept of management, as well as the principles and provisions of administrative governance and their practical application in Kurdistan Region institutions. It emphasized the vital importance of enhancing administrative skills and capabilities to improve the quality of public services provided to citizens.
On the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day, observed globally on 21 September 2025, students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cihan University–Erbil organized a large-scale awareness campaign at Erbil City Center. The campaign aimed to educate the public about Alzheimer’s disease, one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders affecting elderly populations worldwide.
As part of the initiative, students distributed brochures that outlined the main symptoms of Alzheimer’s, preventive lifestyle measures, and practical guidance for families on providing care and emotional support to affected relatives. The campaign also emphasized the importance of early recognition, timely medical consultation, and community solidarity in addressing the disease.
By engaging directly with the public, the students demonstrated their commitment to social responsibility and public health promotion. Such efforts play a vital role in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and fostering a culture of empathy and collective care within society.
Under the directives of the President of Cihan University-Duhok, Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, and as part of the Zakat Al-Alam Foundation for Awareness and Development program aimed at serving various segments of society:
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, coinciding with World Breastfeeding Day, the Department of Radiographic Technology—under the supervision of Department Head Mr. Milat Hussein Mustafa—organized an event providing vital advice and guidance on the health benefits of breastfeeding for children, along with distributing gifts to the participants.
As part of the activities of the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation at Cihan University-Duhok, and in line with the directives of the University President,( Prof. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad ) , emphasizing the importance of volunteer services and awareness initiatives for all community segments, another lecture was delivered on August 10, 2026. Held within the Technology and Artificial Intelligence Course, the session targeted staff members from the Khani Cultural and Media Center in Duhok specializing in video editing and design. The lecture was presented by ( Mr. Rayan Hashim ) , a member of the university’s media department, focusing on the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing video editing software
