Departments of Public Administration and Business Administration Conduct Suhoor Meal Distribution in Erbil

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Department of Public Administration and the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University – Erbil organized a voluntary Suhoor meal distribution activity in several public areas across Erbil, involving second-year students from both departments, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Raz Azad Jalal.

During the activity, the students prepared and arranged Suhoor meal packages before heading to designated locations across the city. The distribution targeted labourers and individuals with limited income working in public areas that had been identified prior to the initiative. The students were divided into organized groups to ensure systematic delivery and broader coverage. Additionally, Assistant Lecturer Raz Azad coordinated the movement of the student groups and monitored the implementation process to ensure accuracy and orderly distribution. The packaged meals were handed directly to workers who spend extended hours in public spaces, in accordance with the planned schedule.

The activity ended upon the completion of distribution in all designated areas, with all prepared meal packages delivered as scheduled.

Within the framework of humanitarian fieldwork, a group of students from the Department of Accounting at Cihan University–Erbil organized a visit to Sharstan Secondary School for Girls in Erbil on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The activity began with a warm official reception by the school principal, Ms. Ronak Yaqoob, and the teaching staff. A brief coordination meeting was held to establish an organized workflow, ensuring that support reached deserving students in a structured and efficient manner.

At the operational level, the student volunteers, under the supervision of Lecturer Rabin Bilal Mohammed, distributed previously collected aid and donations to students from underprivileged and low-income families. The distribution included essential supplies and direct support aimed at improving the students’ educational environment. During the visit, the university students engaged directly with the schoolgirls to offer moral support, emphasizing the importance of collective solidarity in overcoming financial challenges that may hinder academic progress.

The initiative concluded with a tour of the school premises and meetings with the administrative board, who expressed their deep gratitude to the accounting students for their efficiency in managing and organizing this humanitarian effort. The school administration praised the high level of discipline demonstrated by the students during the distribution process, noting that such effective field involvement contributed significantly to fostering optimism among the students and strengthening cooperation between educational institutions in the governorate.

As part of its community and developmental initiatives, and in alignment with the objectives of the Scientific Zakat Foundation, the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil made a cultural donation to Erbil High School for Outstanding Students on January 27, 2026.

The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salame. A delegation of students participated in delivering more than 120 books to the school library. The donated collection included a wide range of publications from the university’s publishing house, covering fields such as literature, law, administration, accounting, and politics in three languages Arabic, Kurdish, and English. In addition, the donation included a selection of literary books contributed by the department’s students to encourage reading and knowledge acquisition.

The delegation was warmly received by the school principal, Mrs. Ruqayyah Salahuddin Shaker, and the teaching staff, who praised the initiative as a model of effective cooperation between the university and educational institutions. They highlighted its role in enriching the school library and promoting a culture of reading and scientific research among students.

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the second day of the training, Ms. Fatima Ali Ayada, a psychology instructor at the Directorate of Education in Naynawa, and Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay Hamid Al-Salami, a lecturer at Cihan University–Erbil, presented several topics related to mental health. Ms. Fatima highlighted the importance of mental health in academic success, explaining that it directly affects students’ ability to focus, learn, and manage stress. She also emphasized that good mental health helps students develop a balanced personality and enhances their ability to interact positively with society, which contributes to social stability and peace.

Dr. Qusay then discussed the development of digital technology and explained how artificial intelligence tools can support the mental health of university students through applications and intelligent systems. He noted that these tools can help monitor students’ emotional conditions, provide personalized guidance and support, and enable early recognition of mental stress. He also emphasized their role in increasing mental health awareness in line with the digital era.

On the third day of the course, Thursday, January 22, 2026, Ms. Batool Abbas Fadhl, a psychology instructor at the Directorate of Education in Naynawa, spoke about the importance of maintaining mental health among university students. She explained that this can be achieved through effective time management and building strong social relationships. Following this, Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Salahaddin Mohammed, a lecturer at Cihan University–Erbil, clarified the ethical and legal aspects of artificial intelligence. He explained how AI can be used responsibly and correctly in scientific research.

The training course focused on the foundations of mental health, coping with mental stress, and understanding emotional challenges. It also addressed practical ways students can protect and maintain their mental well-being. The topics were presented in a scientific and practical manner through discussions, real-life examples, and practical exercises. The main aim of the course was to raise students’ awareness and enhance their ability to care for their mental health.

At the end of the course, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawod, Head of the Business Administration Department, awarded certificates of participation to the students and participants.

Through organizing and completing this course, the Head of the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil emphasized that such scientific and social activities are a key part of the university’s strategy to create a healthy, peaceful, and supportive environment for students.
