Within the framework of the recommendations of Dr. Zervan Abdul Mohsen Assad, President of Cihan University – Duhok, regarding enhancing the university’s role in serving the community and empowering women on psychological, social, and family levels, a closing ceremony for the Human Development Course organized by the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation – Duhok, in cooperation with the Kurdistan Women’s Union – Zakho Center, was held on August 6, 2025, in the Zakho autonomous administration.

The course targeted 72 women from various areas of the Zakho administration and lasted for three days, including informational and training modules aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the participating women and enabling them to effectively perform their roles within the family and society.

The course covered the following topics:

1. Health awareness, supervised by Dr. Mufaq Ramzi.

2. The role of women in the family and family psychological support, supervised by Assistant Instructor Araz Adel Saleh.

3. Foundations for building a happy and stable family, presented by trainer Riyad Ferzo Mahmoud over three days, addressing essential topics related to family relationships and positive communication.

At the conclusion of the course, participation certificates were distributed to the attending women in appreciation of their commitment and active participation.

On July 30, 2025, as part of the recommendations of Professor Dr. Zervan Abdul Mohsen Asad, President of the Cihan University-Duhok, and with the initiative of the Scientific Zakat Foundation, an awareness course titled “Principles of Happiness for the Family” was concluded in cooperation with the Kurdistan Women’s Union – Amadiya Center, and the Amadiya Local Committee.

This course included (51) participants of both genders, and was led by trainer Riad Farzou Mahmoud from the General Education Department – Psychology Branch, lasting three consecutive days.

The program included several important topics related to building a happy family, the foundations of family understanding, in addition to discussing the main family challenges and ways to address them, through interactive discussion sessions in which attendees actively participated.

The aim of this course is to raise family and social awareness and to promote a culture of dialogue and understanding within the family, contributing to the building of a cohesive and stable community.

In line with the recommendations of the President of Cihan University – Duhok, Prof. Dr. Dr. Zeravan Abdulmuhsen Asaad, emphasizing the importance of the university’s role in community service and individual capacity development, the Scientific Zakat Foundation – Duhok Branch launched a training course titled “Towards a Happy Family” on July 28, 2025. This initiative falls within the Foundation’s social activities aimed at promoting family stability and enhancing psychological and social awareness. The course witnessed the participation of more than 50 men and women from the Amedi District in Duhok Governorate, in coordination with the Kurdistan Women’s Union – Amedi Center. It is being led by Mr. Riyadh Farzou Mahmood, from the Department of General Education – Psychology Branch. The course will continue for three consecutive days and includes interactive sessions and training lectures designed to equip participants with essential skills for building balanced family relationships and strengthening psychological and social support within the household. At the end of the course, participation certificates will be awarded to all attendees in recognition of their commitment and engagement — a step toward building a more aware and cohesive society.

On July 23, 2025, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Zerevan Abdulmuhsin Asaad, President of Cihan University – Duhok, the Sceince Zakāt Foundation concluded a human development courseorganized in coordination with the Kurdistan Women’s Union in Duhok District.

The course covered various theoretical and practical topics, including (Psychological awareness, Health, Law, Society, Family, Technology, Social media…)

Six lectures were presented by esteemed speakers:

1. Prof. Dr. Saber Abdullah – On the role of women in family life and the challenges facing modern families.

2. Dr. Muwafaq Ramzi – On the importance of health awareness and its impact on family and societal stability.

3. Dr. Dzhwar Ahmad – On legal awareness and literacy, including an explanation of the Law on Domestic Violence.

4. Assistant Lecturer Badr Jamal Jumaa – On the role of women and their responsibility in raising generations, emphasizing the importance of a strong social foundation.

5. Assistant Lecturer Khalid Ibrahim – On the negative impact of the misuse of social media on family life.

6. Colonel Hayman Suleiman – gave a presentation on the implications and real-life examples related to the misuse of social media.

The course lasted two days, during which three sessions were delivered each day. At the end of the program, certificates of participation were distributed to the attendees.

First, some verses from the Holy Quran were recited, then the Dean of the Castle College at Erbil University delivered a welcoming speech. After that, Dr. Omar Bati presented a seminar titled ‘The Role of Preachers in Psychology’ and focused on religious psychology and its impacts on the preacher and preacheress, highlighting how religious psychology reflects on morals, speech, behavior, competence, intelligence, knowledge, and professionalism. He emphasized that religious teachers are pioneers and bearers of a sacred message, and that they should have a comprehensive understanding of religious psychology and psychology, and be able to deliver Friday sermons with calmness and balance.

Before the conclusion of the seminar, there was an intense and fruitful discussion between Dr. Omar Bati and the religious teachers. In the end, the General Director of Awqaf, in a statement, in addition to congratulating the University of Erbil, Qala College, emphasized his support for organizing such seminars and said: “As Awqaf, we thank the University of Erbil, Qala College, and Dr. Omar Bati, and we thank the religious teachers, who always come enthusiastically to such activities, and this is appreciated.” He added: “As Awqaf, we will always cooperate in any activity that serves religious teachers, Muslims, and the community, and leads to the development of the idea of moderation, understanding, and peace of mind.” After that, the Dean of Qala College at the University of Erbil expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Tayeb Zarar Shirwani, the General Director of Awqaf, and Dr. Omar Bati.

On Saturday, 12/4/2025, in the seminar hall of Cihan University-Sulaymaniya, (Dr. Karim Sharif Qara Chatani), Director of the Center for Psychological and Social Counseling at Cihan University-Sulaymaniya, presented a seminar entitled “The Role of Parents in the Education Process.”
The seminar was directed at parents (fathers and mothers) from the Cihan International Complex-Sulaymaniya.”

Today, a special ceremony was held at Cihan University-Sulaymaniyah to introduce the Scientific Zakat Institute, attended by prominent figures, academics, trade unions, and representatives from various organizations.
The event began with a warm welcome to the guests, followed by a moment of silence in honors of the martyrs. A video presentation was then shown, highlighting the establishment of the institute and the activities of the global educational community.
Professor Dr. Omid Rafiq, president of Cihan University-Sulaimaniya, delivered an opening speech. This was followed by a seminar presented by Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajgar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the group of Cihan Universities, its colleges, and schools, detailing the mission and objectives of the institute.
During the ceremony, the Scientific Zakat Institute awarded commemorative shields to several distinguished individuals and organizations in recognition of their contributions.
The Scientific Zakat Institute is founded on the principle that just as ‘zakat’ (obligatory almsgiving) is given from wealth; knowledge too should have its ‘zakat’—meaning a portion of one’s expertise and intellectual capacity must be dedicated to serving society.

As part of its awareness programs, the Knowledge Charity Foundation – Duhok branch organized a special awareness course for the parents of students, especially mothers and fathers. The first lecture was delivered by Mr. M.M. Ali Abdulqader, a lecturer in the Department of General Education at the Cihan University-Duhok, on ‘The Impact of Social Media on Families, Children, and Students.’

The course will last for three days and targets a number of parents of students in the Tanahi district. The course includes sessions and discussions on several important topics, including:

– How do we raise our children properly?

– Positive ways to deal with students and children.

– Solutions to family problems. –

The impact of social media on families and students.

– Family social relationships.

– Foundations for building a happy and stable family.

This initiative comes as part of the foundation’s efforts to enhance the role of the family in supporting the educational process and advancing the community.




According to the recommendations of Professor Dr. Zarvan Abdul Mohsen As’ad, the President of the University, and as part of its continuous commitment to providing awareness programs and community services, the Zakat of Knowledge Foundation at Cihan University – Duhok concluded a specialized training course today, Tuesday, July 1, 2025, titled:

“Family Guidance from Psychological, Educational, and Health Perspectives.” The final lecture was delivered by Dr. Kazhin Hassan Jasim, Dean of the Medical Colleges and Departments, regarding the importance of health culture for families, particularly the prominent role of parents.

The course aimed to enhance psychological, educational, and health awareness as essential foundations for building a cohesive family capable of performing its educational and social roles effectively in the present and the future. It also focused on empowering parents, especially mothers, with positive interaction skills with children and their psychological and behavioral needs. The course, which lasted for three days, saw the participation of a group of specialized professors, including:

Professor Dr. Saber Abdullah: He gave a lecture on methods of dealing with children and students during the summer vacation.

Assistant Teacher Ali Abdul Qader: His lecture addressed the impact of social media on the family.

The course also featured practical activities in which several children participated along with their mothers. Practical training sessions were organized to empower mothers with the skills to correctly interact with the desires and needs of children, in addition to dialogue workshops and open discussion sessions.

This initiative comes within the framework of the University of Duhok’s commitment to enhancing the role of the family in community building, as part of the scientific charity unit’s programs aimed at supporting family stability and developing community awareness.



On December 7, 2025, in line with the recommendations of Professor Dr. Zerfan Abdulmohsen Asaad, the President of Ceyhan University-Duhok, a collaborative event took place between the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation and the Kurdistan Women’s Union in the Samil district, aimed at establishing a comprehensive human development course.
