As part of its community and developmental initiatives, and in alignment with the objectives of the Scientific Zakat Foundation, the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil made a cultural donation to Erbil High School for Outstanding Students on January 27, 2026.
The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salame. A delegation of students participated in delivering more than 120 books to the school library. The donated collection included a wide range of publications from the university’s publishing house, covering fields such as literature, law, administration, accounting, and politics in three languages Arabic, Kurdish, and English. In addition, the donation included a selection of literary books contributed by the department’s students to encourage reading and knowledge acquisition.
The delegation was warmly received by the school principal, Mrs. Ruqayyah Salahuddin Shaker, and the teaching staff, who praised the initiative as a model of effective cooperation between the university and educational institutions. They highlighted its role in enriching the school library and promoting a culture of reading and scientific research among students.
As a national and patriotic duty, and as an expression of deep solidarity with the resilient people of Rojava Kurdistan, students from the second and fourth stages of the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a national and civil activity in opposition to the ongoing attacks carried out against the Kurds of that region by the Syrian government. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qader and took place on Sultan Muzaffari Street in the city of Erbil.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the students took a patriotic and solidarity-based initiative to support the Kurds of Rojava Kurdistan by wearing traditional Kurdish clothing and distributing more than 100 Kurdistan flags to citizens. This action reflected the students’ strong national awareness and their deep understanding of the seriousness and dangers of the inhumane actions being committed against the Kurds of Rojava in Syria.
It emphasized conveying a clear and compassionate message to all parties that the Kurdish people, across all parts of Kurdistan, are not divided, but rather stand united and speak with one voice during times of crisis and threat. The activity also served as a call to reaffirm the legitimate rights and national identity of the Kurdish people and to reject all forms of oppression and violations committed against them.
Under the slogan ‘From Assessment to Implementation,’ the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a follow-up visit to Bakhchay Mandalani Gulala Kindergarten in Hana City–Havalan Complex on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The visit was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay Hameed Al-Salami, accompanied by a group of first-year students from the Business Administration Department. They were warmly received by the kindergarten’s principal, Ms. Shermin Faqi Abdullah, along with members of the teaching staff.
During the inspection tour, they observed the ongoing work that has already begun, including the cleaning of the kindergarten’s outdoor and indoor courtyards; the replacement of damaged carpeting with new carpet tiles in three classrooms; and metalwork involving the installation of a new fiberglass roof in the outdoor courtyard to prevent rainwater leakage.
This visit represents the implementation phase of the department’s voluntary initiative, particularly for first-year students. It strengthens the strategic partnership with the local community and directly aims to improve the educational environment while ensuring the provision of a safe and supportive space for learning and creativity.
At the end of the visit, the kindergarten principal and teaching staff extended their sincere thanks to the university delegation, affirming that this voluntary initiative truly embodies the slogan ‘From Assessment to Implementation’ and makes a tangible contribution to improving the educational environment for children.
On Wednesday, 14 January 2026, the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a public awareness campaign to inform the community about the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.
As part of the campaign, the department’s academic staff, in collaboration with students, prepared and printed informational brochures entitled ‘Steps to a Healthy Life.’ The brochures provided practical and essential guidance on physical activity, healthy food choices, and positive daily habits that contribute to a healthier lifestyle. They were distributed to raise awareness and encourage positive behavioral change within the community. The campaign highlighted the role of regular physical activities, such as walking and running, alongside healthy eating habits in enhancing overall health and well-being.
In another segment of the campaign, students, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir, visited Sami Abdulrahman Park in Erbil. During the visit, they distributed the brochures to citizens and park visitors and encouraged them to adopt healthier lifestyles through physical exercise and balanced nutrition.
In line with its social responsibility and in support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the “Scientific Zakat” initiative adopted by Cihan University-Erbil, the university launched a distinctive cultural initiative aimed at supporting school libraries and enriching knowledge for younger generations.
On January 14, 2026, a student delegation from the Business Administration Department visited Al-Nasr School for Distinguished Girls under the Erbil Representation. The visit was sponsored by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Q. Birdawod, and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salami.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the school principal, Ms. Lina Saadi Lefteh, and the teaching staff, who expressed their happiness with this initiative that embodies the spirit of cooperation between the university and educational institutions.
The visit culminated a cultural project adopted by the Business Administration Department under the university’s patronage, where over 70 books from the publications of Cihan University’s Publishing and Printing House were delivered. The collection covered diverse topics in literature, law, administration, accounting, and politics, in three languages: Arabic, Kurdish, and English.
On this occasion, the school principal stated: “We thank Cihan University-Erbil and the Business Administration Department for this generous gesture, which not only enriches our library but also promotes a culture of reading and research among our students, representing a living model of constructive partnership between higher education and the community”.
This step reinforces the university’s role as an active partner in community development, paving the way for more joint initiatives that serve the education sector and enrich the cultural environment in the region.
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in fulfillment of its social responsibility and in support of the Fourth United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil launched a volunteer initiative to rehabilitate Bakhcha-i Mandalani Gulala Kindergarten in Hana City–Havlan.
Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay H. Al-Salami, a delegation of first-stage students conducted a diagnostic field visit to the kindergarten. The kindergarten director, Ms. Shirmin Faki Abdullah, and the teaching staff warmly received the delegation. During the field tour, the delegation observed extensive damage caused by recent heavy rains in the area. Several classroom ceilings had partially collapsed, rainwater had leaked indoors, and the flooring, along with educational and administrative furniture, had been severely damaged. In addition, the kindergarten was experiencing a complete power outage. Due to these unsafe conditions, the administration was forced to suspend operations to ensure the children’s safety.
Commenting on the initiative, the kindergarten director stated:
“This initiative represents a real beacon of hope for our children. The partnership with the university will help us reopen the kindergarten and restore a safe and suitable educational environment once again.”
At the end of the visit, the kindergarten director and teaching staff expressed their sincere gratitude to the Cihan University–Erbil delegation for this humanitarian initiative, which aims to rehabilitate the kindergarten and transform it into a safe, supportive, and inspiring educational environment that contributes to building a better future for coming generations.
On Monday, 12 January 2026, students from the Department of Business Administration, in coordination with students from the Department of Public Administration, provided food supplies to an orphanage as part of their commitment to social responsibility and community service.
The activity was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Mr. Sherwan Abdulrahman Hussein, the manager of the orphanage.
During the visit, the manager provided the students with detailed information about the orphanage, which operates under the Directorate of Social Affairs. He explained that the orphanage accommodates children from one day old up to eighteen years of age. Sleeping facilities are provided, with two or three children sharing each room. The children receive three meals daily.
At the end of the activity, Mr. Sherwan Abdulrahman Hussein expressed his appreciation to the staff of both the Business Administration and Public Administration departments for their attention to vulnerable groups in society, including orphanages and homes for the elderly. In return, the supervising lecturer thanked the orphanage staff and confirmed that further support and assistance would be provided in the future.
On Monday, January 12, 2026, students from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil conducted an awareness campaign to inform the community about the dangers of using narcotic substances, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about drug abuse and promoting ways to protect individuals from its harmful effects.
The academic staff of the department, together with the students, first prepared printed brochures titled “The Risks of Using Narcotic Substances and Methods of Self-Protection.” The brochures included important information about the harmful effects of drug use and ways to prevent it. Drug use causes serious damage to the brain, heart, and nervous system, increases rates of crime and violence, and leads to the breakdown of family relationships. The brochures also outlined several methods of self-protection, such as learning about the dangers of drugs, staying away from drug sources, and firmly refusing drugs when they are offered.
As part of this activity, a group of students visited Sami Abdulrahman Park in Erbil under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. They distributed awareness brochures to citizens and visitors and encouraged them to act more responsibly and consciously in order to help build a healthy and informed society.
In a practical step to serve the community, and under the auspices of the Head of the Business Administration Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Berdawood, Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay Hamid Al-Salami, accompanied by a group of first-year students, made a field visit to Kharaba Daraw Primary School in Khabat-Erbil district, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.
The delegation was warmly received by the school principal, Ms. Karout Bashtiwan Danha, and members of the teaching staff, who explained during a field tour the most urgent needs of the school. These needs included urgent maintenance work for the classrooms, which suffer from serious wall cracks that threaten the safety of students and teachers, in addition to the need for safe electrical wiring, painting work, and a complete replacement of broken windows in all the classrooms.
This voluntary initiative aims to establish a genuine partnership between the university and the local community.
As part of the Zakat Al-Ilm Foundation’s programs at Cihan University-Duhok, a specialized workshop was held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, for fourth-year students in the departments of (English Language and Psychology), in cooperation with the Directorate of Preparation and Training in Duhok.
The workshop aimed to prepare students for the field application phase in schools, and included a series of high-quality lectures presented by a select group of specialized professors:
1. م. هـ. بدر جمال جمعة: تناول استراتيجيات إدارة الصف وكيفية التعامل مع المواقف الحرجة.
2. م. هـ. رعد عبدالمجيد يوسف: ركز على أخلاقيات المهنة وبروتوكولات التعامل مع الوسط المدرسي.
3. م. عمر إسكندر عمر: استعرض آليات التخطيط الفعّال للدروس وصياغة الأهداف السلوكية.
4. م. هـ. موسى حسين موسى: سلّط الضوء على استراتيجيات التواصل الحديثة وتوظيف الوسائل السمعية والبصرية في تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the field application forms were officially distributed to the students present, in preparation for commencing their training duties in educational institutions.
