On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Osman Rasul Ali, a student in the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil, collaborated with Erbil International Hospital to conduct a first aid training session for primary school students at Sayadari Primary School in Erbil.
The event began with a warm welcome from Rukhsar Asaad Ahmad, the school manager, in the presence of students and teachers. Osman presented a seminar on the principles of first aid, emphasizing techniques and best practices.
In the second part of the activity, Osman demonstrated practical first aid techniques tailored for emergencies that can occur in schools, focusing on how to protect students’ health during unexpected incidents.
At the conclusion of the event, students and teachers at Sayadari Primary School expressed their gratitude to Osman for organizing the activity and for his commitment to teaching essential first aid skills.
On Tuesday (2024/12/17), the student Osman Rasul Ali from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil visited Sheikh Choli Primary School and conducted an activity on performing first aid.
The student was welcomed by Ms. Samira Ibrahim, the principal of Sheikh Choli Primary School in Erbil, in the presence of teachers and students of the school. The performance was first presented with a seminar on how to perform first aid.
In the second part of the activity, our student practiced first aid methods for common school incidents so that teachers and pupils could protect students’ lives from mischievious accidents.
Finally, the school’s teachers and pupils thanked student Osman Rasul Ali for the activity and requested that more activities be conducted in the school to improve students’ health knowledge.
On Monday, January 27, 2025, students from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil visited the Erbil Orphanage and conducted a charity activity under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Daban K. Rashid.
They were warmly welcomed by Mr. Sherwan Abdulrahman Hussein, Director of Erbil Orphanage, who introduced the place, parts of the center, and seventy children cared for there.
During the activity, the students provided supplies to the orphanage and distributed goodie bags to the children.
Finally, the director and staff of the Erbil Orphanage thanked the students for organizing this activity.
On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, third-year students from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil visited Sardam Private School and conducted scientific activities for the teachers and students there.
They were welcomed by Mr. Ali Jabbar Sabir, the school director. They presented a seminar on diabetes and blood pressure at the beginning of the event In the presence of the school teachers and students.
In the next part of the activity, they conducted a series of examinations that included eye examinations, diabetes, and blood pressure for each teacher and student.
Finally, the teachers and students of the school thanked Cihan University-Erbil students for their commendable efforts.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Sahira Mohammed, the Director of the school. The event commenced with an introduction by the university students, who explained essential first aid techniques in the presence of school students and teachers.
As part of the activity, practical training sessions were conducted to teach students and teachers how to administer first aid in case of emergencies.

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, students from the Community Health Nursing Department at Cihan University-Erbil conducted a seminar at Shokhi Girls Primary School in Erbil. The seminar, titled First Aid, aimed to educate school students on essential first aid techniques.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Ms. Peri Saber, the director of Shokhi Girls Primary School.
During the seminar, the Community Health Nursing students, in the presence of the school’s teachers and students, discussed various first aid techniques. They demonstrated and practiced first aid methods for common school-related incidents, equipping students and teachers with the necessary skills to respond effectively in emergencies.
The seminar provided young students with valuable knowledge on administering first aid. At the end of the session, the school’s students and teachers expressed their gratitude to the Cihan University-Erbil students for their efforts and requested more activities to help raise awareness.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the College of Dentistry organized a heartwarming outreach initiative by visiting a local orphanage to provide comprehensive dental care and health services. Under the supervision of Assistant Lecturers Sawen Tahseen Taha, Bahoz Himdad Majeed, and Maryam Fakher Ibrahim, a team of dedicated third-year dental students and faculty members offered free dental checkups, diagnosing oral health conditions and performing essential treatments for the children.
In addition to dental examinations, the team conducted blood sugar tests to address common health concerns. To further brighten the day, each child received a special gift, bringing smiles not only through medical care but also through this thoughtful gesture of kindness.
This visit underscores the College’s commitment to community service and its dedication to caring for underprivileged children, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to essential healthcare and support.
On November 14, 2024, third-year students from the College of Dentistry organized a community outreach visit to a local nursing home. Under the supervision of Assistant Lecturers Sawen Tahseen Taha, Bahoz Himdad Majed, and Maryam Fakher Ibrahim, the students donated essential items and provided free dental check-ups, blood sugar tests, and blood pressure screenings for the elderly residents.

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, second-year students from the College of Dentistry at Cihan University-Erbil conducted an awareness seminar at Shyaw Private School in Erbil. The seminar, titled Oral and Dental Health Awareness Initiative, was organized by College of Dentistry students under the supervision of Assistant Lecturers Sawen Tahseen Taha, Maryam Fakhir Ibrahim, and Ghfran Muslim Aqeel.
Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Mr. Raffat Hassan, a teacher at the school.
As part of their commitment to enhancing health awareness among younger generations, the students emphasized the importance of oral and dental care and shared the best practices for maintaining good oral hygiene. This initiative aimed to promote a culture of health awareness and encourage positive habits from an early age to prevent dental diseases and ensure long-term oral health.
During the seminar, the students provided a detailed explanation of healthy habits that help protect teeth from decay and gum disease, including proper brushing and flossing techniques, the impact of diet on oral health, and the importance of regular dental check-ups for early problem detection. The session was highly interactive, featuring modern teaching tools such as demonstrations and medical models to simplify key concepts.
At the end of the seminar, a Q&A session allowed students to ask questions about daily habits and the effects of certain foods and drinks on dental health. To further encourage healthy practices, educational brochures and symbolic gifts, including toothbrushes and toothpaste, were distributed among the students.
On Sunday, January 19, 2025, the Department of General Education at Cihan University-Erbil, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun, Head of the Department, and Assistant Lecturer Botan Othman Amin, visited a nursing home in Erbil. The visit aimed to deliver in-kind gifts to elderly residents and individuals with special needs.
Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun, Assistant Lecturer Botan Othman Amin, and second-stage students Mustafa Amer, Barzan Abdul Jabbar, Saad Ramzi, Hazha Zahir, and Niga Nahro were warmly welcomed by Mr. Sangar Jamal Abdul Karim, Director of the nursing home, and staff members. Gifts were distributed to 65 residents both men and women, with personalized bags containing clothing and essential items suited to their needs.
In response, Mr. Sangar Jamal expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided by the students and faculty. He emphasized the significance of such support for the residents, who require care and attention.
Dr. Ahmed Abd Aoun highlighted that one of the department’s core responsibilities is maintaining strong ties with the local community. He underscored the importance of instilling values of cooperation, social solidarity, and humanity in students, who are the leaders of tomorrow. He also noted that the university is deeply integrated into its local environment and committed to active community engagement. This initiative aligns with the university’s efforts to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in providing healthcare and humanitarian support for the elderly, ensuring their needs are met, and promoting a dignified life.
