On Monday, November 3, 2025, students from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil conducted an awareness campaign to promote the reduction of electricity usage, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pidawod and coordination of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir. The aim of the campaign was to raise community awareness about the importance of reducing electricity consumption in daily life and to highlight the negative effects of excessive usage.

A group of second-year students participated in the initiative, which was also attended by several faculty members. For this purpose, the department’s scientific staff, together with the students, prepared and distributed brochures titled ‘Reduce Your Usage, Brighten the Future.’ During the campaign, the students emphasized the importance of turning off lights and electrical appliances in households and shops. They also explained how small changes in daily habits can lead to significant positive impacts over time.

The campaign aimed not only to reduce electricity usage but also to raise awareness about the harmful effects of excessive energy consumption and to encourage the sustainable use of natural resources. As a result, it played an influential role in increasing public consciousness and motivating individuals to adopt a greener and more environmentally friendly lifestyle.

On Monday, October 27, 2025, students from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil visited Arzhini Girls’ Primary School and presented a seminar on how to use artificial intelligence to the students of the school.

The activity, held under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir, began with a warm welcome from Ms. Banaz Abbas Majid, the school principal, who then guided the students to the seminar presentation area. For this purpose, Zainab Rashad Elias, a third-year student in the Department of Business Administration, presented the first part of the seminar, explaining how artificial intelligence can make daily life easier. During her presentation, she mentioned several AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Gemini.

Afterward, Shanaz Rashad Elias, a fourth-year student in the same department, discussed the challenges associated with using artificial intelligence, including the potential for future job loss. She also advised the students to protect their personal information when using AI technologies.

At the end of the seminar, the school students asked several questions, which the presenters answered enthusiastically. The supervising lecturer thanked the school principal and staff for providing this valuable opportunity for the university students to share their knowledge. In return, the principal congratulated the students and wished them continued success in their studies.

The Maple Tree Organization, established by a group of young individuals and including volunteer students from various stages and departments (Business Administration, Medical Microbiology, Media and Biomedical Science) at Cihan University–Erbil, recently launched a campaign to beautify the walls, bridges, and buildings of Erbil. In this context, Cihan University–Erbil commends the organization’s efforts in managing the campaign.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawood, Head of the Business Administration Department, representing Professor Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University–Erbil, participated in the Maple Tree Organization’s campaign, which is currently focused on beautifying the Erbil Club stadium. As part of this effort, many unsightly slogans on the walls were removed and replaced with images of several famous Erbil Club players, the Kurdistan flag, and approximately 25 images of ultras, along with inspiring slogans to support the Erbil Club.

During the visit to the campaign, Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar emphasized the importance of the organization’s work, highlighting the crucial role of universities in supporting environmental programs that benefit society. He added that participation in such initiatives aligns with the vision and mission of Cihan University–Erbil. He then commended the organizers of the Maple Tree Organization for undertaking these voluntary environmental activities aimed at serving and developing the community. He also mentioned that student involvement in such initiatives fosters a stronger sense of community development, responsibility, and awareness.

Finally, the campaign organizers praised the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar, reaffirming their commitment to continue working to improve Erbil’s environment.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Department of Business Administration held a public awareness campaign focused on reducing food waste. The activity intended to raise community awareness about preventing food wastage.

The campaign was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Birdawod and coordinated by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qader. For this purpose, the department’s academic staff and students prepared and printed several brochures titled Don’t Waste Food, which included important information and practical tips, such as:

“Save food, save your planet – every bite counts. Take only as much as you can eat, and remember that leftovers matter. Wasting food wastes resources, so think before you throw food away. Don’t waste food; someone else might need it.”

As part of the campaign, some students and supervising lecturers visited Qaysari Bazaar in Erbil, distributing the brochures to shopkeepers, vendors, and citizens, and encouraging them to reduce food waste.

At the end of the campaign, shopkeepers, vendors, and citizens expressed their appreciation to the students for organizing and managing this important awareness activity.

On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, students from the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil went to Ahang Mixed Primary School.

During this activity, they were warmly received by the school principal, Ms. Sozan Saadi. Ms. Chinar Samad Sadiq then guided them to the seminar presentation area. Gardoon Fatah Hama, a fourth-year student from the Business Administration Department, delivered an engaging seminar presentation titled ‘The Harms of Mobile Phone Use.’ She highlighted the health effects of excessive mobile phone use, including dry and blurry eyes, reduced physical activity, sleep disturbances, less time for family and friends, and disengagement from studies. She also advised students to take regular breaks when using mobile phones and to avoid using them during sleep. The activity was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir.

Finally, Mr. Peshawa Mawlud, the school’s Activities Director, highlighted several important points and encouraged the school students to reflect on the key takeaways from the seminar, apply them in their daily lives, limit their mobile phone use, and dedicate more time to studying, learning, and exercising.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil organized a public awareness campaign on water conservation and waste prevention.

The campaign, supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Hawkar Qasim Pirdawud, Head of the Department, and managed by Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qadir, involved students visiting the Kurdistan (Askari) neighborhood in Erbil City, where they distributed awareness brochures to local residents.

The campaign also extended to the markets and shops within the neighborhood, where brochures were handed out to households, shop owners, and passersby. Citizens were encouraged to use water responsibly, recognizing that water is the source of life.

Prior to the campaign, students of the Department of Business Administration, in collaboration with the academic staff, prepared and printed brochures titled ‘Saving Water, Saving the Planet: Every Drop Counts.’ The brochures included essential information about water conservation, statistics on water saving, and practical tips for reducing daily water consumption. They highlighted, for instance, that wasting a single drop of water can amount to 20 gallons lost per day. The brochures also offered guidelines on efficient water use at home, such as minimizing water waste while brushing teeth, washing dishes, and cleaning household items. The campaign was warmly received by residents, shop owners, and market visitors, who expressed their appreciation and described it as a positive and meaningful initiative.

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, in preparation for the 2025–2026 academic year and with the aim of fostering a conducive learning environment through school sanitation, fourth-year students from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University–Erbil, under the supervision of the department head, actively participated in a comprehensive cleaning campaign across schools in Erbil’s city center.

The students dedicated their efforts to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for pupils as the new academic term begins. The campaign aimed to create an optimal learning atmosphere, recognizing that a clean, organized, and healthy setting is a fundamental prerequisite for educational success.

On this occasion, the Business Administration students expressed their satisfaction in contributing to community service and reaffirmed their commitment to future social initiatives that serve the wider community.

The campaign was carried out in coordination with school health protection teams, infection control teams from the General Directorate of Health in Erbil, the General Directorate of Education in Erbil, Cihan University-Erbil, and the Kurdistan Students and Youth Union.

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, as part of the Biomedical Sciences Department’s ongoing awareness program at Cihan University – Erbil, a group of second-stage students visited Hawler Typical School to conduct a health awareness seminar and facilitate a scientific activity aimed at educating high school students.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by School Director Mrs. Nashmil Hamad Ali and Assistant Director Mrs. Trifa Mohammed. The seminar, attended by 12th-grade students, focused on common health conditions affecting females, particularly polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which is often linked to overweight individuals.

Beyond the seminar, the students conducted basic medical tests, including blood grouping, blood sugar measurement, and blood pressure assessments. They also distributed informational brochures about the Biomedical Sciences Department and its academic programs.

At the end of the event, the students expressed their gratitude to the school administration for the opportunity to engage with students and raise awareness about critical health issues.

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the third-year students of the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil visited Ban Private School.

Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Mr. Goran Radha, the school director, who expressed his appreciation for their efforts in promoting important life skills among the students.

During the visit, the university students delivered a seminar on first aid, diabetes, and blood pressure in the presence of the school’s teachers and students. Their presentation focused on the causes of diabetes, prevention methods, and the importance of regular screening.

As part of their visit, the students of the Department of Community Health Nursing conducted various health examinations for both teachers and students. These examinations included eye tests, as well as diabetes and blood pressure screenings.

At the end of the visit, the teachers and students expressed their gratitude to the students of Cihan University-Erbil for their valuable efforts. They appreciated the informative seminar and the thorough health examinations, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness about essential health issues.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, third-year students from the Department of Community Health Nursing at Cihan University-Erbil visited Briska Girls High School to conduct a health awareness seminar.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Ms. Zhuan Majid Zandi, the school director. At the beginning of the session, in the presence of teachers and students, the Cihan University students delivered a seminar on first aid techniques, emphasizing essential life-saving methods.

During the seminar, they conducted various health screenings for both teachers and students, including eye examinations to assess vision health, blood sugar tests to detect potential diabetes cases, and blood pressure measurements to monitor cardiovascular health.

At the end of the seminar, the teachers and students of Briska Girls High School expressed their gratitude to the Cihan University-Erbil students for their efforts in raising awareness about first aid and health screenings. They highlighted the significance of such initiatives in promoting public health and safety.
