“I would like to present some data and information about this conference,” he stated. “During the formation of the scientific committee, a total of 65 research papers were submitted by researchers, experts, and university faculty. Of these, 10 studies were not accepted, while 55 were approved. Notably, 11 of the selected papers came from international universities, including those in Britain, Australia, Iran, and Malaysia, while 43 were contributed by researchers from universities in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.”

“In these rankings, among more than 150 public and private universities in Iraq, only 12 have been recognized,” he noted. “Notably, Cihan University – Erbil has secured the top spot in the Kurdistan Region and is ranked second in Iraq, following Baghdad University.”
In the latest edition of the Clarivate InCite International Research Impact Analysis Ranking (2020-2024)—published on January 31, 2025—Cihan University -Erbil has once again solidified its position as a leading academic institution.
According to the ranking, Cihan University -Erbil secured the top spot among all private universities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Additionally, it ranked third overall among both public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region.
The report also highlighted the university’s strong research output, with 1,076 publications indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) during this period. Moreover, these publications amassed 22,249 citations, reinforcing the university’s impact on global research and its commitment to academic excellence.

Sulaymaniya, Iraq — November 11, 2024 — In observance of Armistice Day, English Department organized a thought-provoking academic workshop titled “November 11: A Literary Journey Through World War I & the Armistice Day” on November 11, 2024, at the university’s Seminars Hall. The event combined scholarly presentations, literary discussions, and creative activities, providing a reflective space for students and faculty to commemorate the historical significance of Armistice Day.
The workshop featured three distinguished keynote speakers:
Tafan Kamal Kareem, a faculty member at Cihan University, began the event with a lecture on the history of World War I and Armistice Day celebrations in British literature. She explored how the war influenced literary works, particularly poetry, and the ways in which British writers have commemorated the sacrifices made during the conflict.
Rezhen Nawzad Latif, a teaching staff from University of Sulaimania, followed with a presentation on the weapons used during World War I. Latif provided insights into the technological advancements that shaped the war and discussed the emotional depth of Wilfred Owen’s poetry, focusing on his poignant portrayals of the horrors of trench warfare.
Shaimaa Muhammed Ahmed, another faculty member from Cihan Univeristy- Sulaimaniya, concluded the series of talks with a discussion on female war poets during WWI. She highlighted the often-overlooked contributions of women writers, emphasizing their unique perspectives on grief, loss, and the impact of war.
In addition to the academic talks, students participated in a hands-on activity, crafting handmade poppy flowers—a symbol of remembrance for the soldiers who lost their lives in the war. The poppies were displayed as a tribute to the fallen and served as a visual representation of the day’s solemn reflections.

The Department of Chemistry offered a course titled “Blood Drawing”, supervised by Ayinda Mariwan Mohsen, with laboratory assistance from Bahrang Ahmad Hussein. The course was initiated by three students: Maya Muthana from the fourth stage of biochemical analysis, Idris Khadr Hassan from the third stage of biochemical analysis, and Saman Abdullah Shukri from the second stage of general chemistry. The 5th International Joint Conference on Administrative and Financial Sciences was held at Cihan University-Erbil in collaboration with the University of Lodz in Poland and the University of Mosul.
Under the slogan “Implementation of Artificial Intelligence Programs as a Fundamental Basis for the Development of Modern Business Organizations,” the conference brought together distinguished guests, including Dr. Tawana Najaf, the undersecretary of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Omid Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, as well as university presidents, and numerous local, Iraqi, and international researchers.
The conference commenced on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in the Conference Hall of Cihan University-Erbil starting with a solemn moment of tribute to the pure souls of the martyrs, followed by a series of speeches.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al- Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil and President of the Conference, welcomed the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region, as well as representatives from the University of Lodz in Poland, the University of Mosul, and distinguished guests and experts in administrative and financial sciences.
Prof. Al-Delawi highlighted the significance of artificial intelligence and its applications in business environments, emphasizing how the diverse scientific and cultural backgrounds of the participants enrich the conference. He described the event as a valuable academic platform, fostering global discussions and advancing scholarly debate in the field.
During his speech at the conference, Prof. Al-Delawi, underscored the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming modern industries.
“Artificial intelligence has become the main focus of innovation across various fields and professions, as it opens new avenues for development and has redefined traditional business management methods,” Dr. Al-Delawi stated.
He emphasized that the conference would explore both the opportunities and challenges associated with AI integration, with a particular focus on its long-term economic and social impacts. As a result, 73 scientific research papers were submitted to the Conference’s Scientific Committee. After thorough evaluation and review by a group of experts from both inside and outside Iraq, 58 papers were approved for presentation, while 15 were rejected.

During the opening ceremony of the conference, the speech of University of Mosul was read by Prof. Dr. Sahir Ahmad Salman, Vice President of the University. Dr. Salman expressed his satisfaction with the joint scientific collaboration and congratulated Cihan University-Erbil for successfully organizing and hosting the event. Over the course of the two-day conference, 58 research papers will be presented by scholars and researchers from various regions, organized into six distinct themes. In addition, six prominent keynote speakers will lead the conference, sharing their expertise and insights on the intersection of administrative and financial sciences and artificial intelligence.

There are always different language courses in various languages at the language center, and as a volunteer, I have participated in all of them, whether in organization or teaching. Under the slogan ‘From Assessment to Implementation,’ the Business Administration Department at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a follow-up visit to Erbil High School for Outstanding Students on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The visit aimed to monitor the progress of the maintenance and development plan prepared by the department following its previous assessment.
The visit involved a group of fourth-stage students led by Assistant Professor Dr. Qusay Hameed Al-Salamy. On Monday, September 29, 2025, students from the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil went to Sheikh Mahmoud Namir Preparatory School for Boys to carry out the Electronic Media Safety Campaign there.
At the beginning of the activity, Mr. Shwan Salim Ismail, the school principal, received the students and expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Media Department at Cihan University – Erbil for its continuous support in organizing seminars on important topics that enhance students’ awareness. The seminar began under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismail and in the presence of twelfth-grade students, focusing on the necessity of proper and responsible interaction with technology. It was dedicated to discussing the dangers and negative impacts of misusing communication devices and social media networks on students’ academic performance and social lives.
In the first part of the seminar, Rizgar Salih, a third-year Media Department student, explained in detail various methods of personal protection from digital dangers, with particular emphasis on safeguarding personal secrets, being cautious about sharing personal information, and identifying fake or suspicious accounts.
In another part of the seminar, student Avin Bahjat provided a legal explanation and outlined the details of the law on the misuse of communication devices in the Kurdistan Region. She described the types of penalties imposed on violators, thereby alerting students that misusing social media carries serious legal consequences. At the same time, the numbers and methods for contacting emergency and complaint hotlines were clarified as an important service. This activity was regarded as an effective and necessary step toward creating a safe and informed educational environment.
In line with global initiatives to combat breast cancer, students from the Media Department at Cihan University-Erbil conducted an intensive breast cancer awareness campaign under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismal Mawlood. It took place in the popular market of the Newroz neighborhood in Erbil on Monday, October 6, 2025.
The students, all female, represented every stage of the aforementioned department. They distributed specialized brochures containing accurate and scientifically validated information on breast cancer prevention, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and the early signs of the disease. Another significant activity of the campaign involved pinning pink ribbons onto the women’s clothing. This activity greatly contributed to creating a visible impact and disseminating the awareness message among a large number of people.
In response, citizens, especially women and girls, expressed their profound appreciation for the implementation of this campaign. They extended their gratitude and commendation to the students for their efforts in conveying and spreading correct health awareness messages, fostering positive change within the community, and serving the public good.
