About

In Islam, “zakat” (زكاة) usually refers to the obligatory charity that purifies one’s wealth — one of the Five Pillars of Islam. But zakat isn’t limited to money. Scholars have extended the meaning to other blessings from God, including knowledge, health, time, or talent. So, zakat al-eilm means sharing your knowledge for the benefit of others — teaching, mentoring, writing, or guiding people without expecting reward, except from Allah.
